I am shocked and dismayed at the brutal lack of honesty by the creators of this propaganda video!!

Here is a screenshot from Codex Justinian as shown in the video:

 Here is the original:

The word "purple" has been photoshopped to "Purpura" and "murex" to fit with the false agenda.
 SHAME ON YOU!!

Wow
You sure the textile has been altered?
Perhaps it just depends on the lighting during the photo

Concerning the codex justinian, it depends on the translation used, especially since it's from Latin. The original is here (boldness for emphasis) - https://droitromain.univ-grenoble-alpes ... CJ4.htm#40:

".40.1

Imperatores Valentinianus, Theodosius, Arcadius . Fucandae atque distrahendae purpurae vel in serico vel in lana, quae blatta vel oxyblatta atque hyacinthina dicitur, facultatem nullus possit habere privatus. Sin autem aliquis supra dicti muricis vellus vendiderit, fortunarum se suarum et capitis sciat subiturum esse discrimen * VALENTIN. THEODOS. ET ARCAD. AAA. FAUSTO COM. SACR. LARG. *<>"

Here is another translation (http://legalhistorysources.com/Law508/R ... #BOOK%20IV)

"No private person shall have the right to dye either silk or wool with the colors called blatta, oxyblatta, or hyacinthina, or sell it after it has been dyed. If anyone should sell wool dyed with the colors aforesaid, he is hereby notified that he will incur the risk of losing his property and his life."

So actually, "purpura" is a more accurate word because it can refer to the color purple or the "purple snail" source, which is the murex.

Regarding the Wadi Murbaat textile, it all depends on the lighting. There does exist a dark blue colored Wadi Murbaat textile which Naama Sukenik told me herself was photoshopped. But this looks different. Also so you know, unless any of us sees the textile in person, any digital photo by definition will be "photoshopped" since each phone/camera has its own color interpretation. Plus there are additional settings to increase contrast, hue saturation, etc.

Genugshoin indeed!

Basically forgery is okay. Got it.

(In actuality, the word purpura here refers to the color purple, not the creature. The second translation is obviously innacurate. Either way, photoshopping an existing translation is DISHONEST.)

If you say so.

Purpura being purple or the purple snail (which is the murex in Greek) isn't a problem: even in English we have words like peach, cherry red, and orange which describe the fruit and the color. Purpura referring to both the color and the snail prized for producing that range of shades of said color isn't a contradiction.

One more thing: if you are looking for the truth, it doesn't appear that way. If you are looking to cause trouble, making these cheap shots will only continue to make you look foolish.

Peach never refers to BOTH the fruit and the color. Here purple is refering to the color only.

So yes- this is a FORGERY. Wait- you said something about "the truth"?

I don't think there is an accurate English translation here. Translation should be something like "clothing dyed with murex", but there is no English word for that. (As opposed to Latin)
